Q. What are cookies and why do I need them to access the Tea: A Journey website?

A. A "cookie" is a small piece of information stored on a user's computer so that it can later be read back by the creating site. In general, a cookie cannot be read by any website other than the one that created it.

Cookies enable Tea: A Journey to keep track of which items from the galleries you have added to your "Journal" and allow you to log into and view your journal during future visits. Your Web Browser can be set to refuse cookies; however, if this is the case, you will be unable to use the "Journal" feature of Tea: A Journey

Cookies do not have the ability to make any changes to the applications and programs on your computer, and Tea: A Journey does not use cookies to examine your surfing behavior nor does it store any personal information (such as your name, address, etc).

Q. How do I ensure cookies are enabled in my browser?

A. If you try to add a gallery item to your journal and receive the message "Unable to detect Javascript", cookies (and Javascript) are not enabled in your browser.

First ensure that you have a compatible web browser. Tea: A Journey has been tested with Internet Explorer version 5.0 and greater and Netscape Navigator version 4.7 and greater. You can download Internet Explorer here. You can download Netscape Navigator here.

In Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater, click on Tools | Internet Options | Security and make sure that the security level for the "Internet" zone is medium or lower (medium is the default security level). Reload Tea: A Journey by clicking here and attempt to add an item to your journal again. You may need to exit and restart your browser.

In Netscape Navigator 4.7 or greater, click on Edit | Preferences | Advanced and ensure that "Disable Cookies" is not selected. Reload Tea: A Journey by clicking here and attempt to add an item to your journal again. You may need to exit and restart your browser.

Q. I'm going to my "Journal" and items that I know I have added are not showing up!

A. First, ensure that cookies are enabled on your system by following the tips above.

Second, the cookie is stored on the computer that first creates your "Journal". If you subsequently visit Tea: A Journey from a different computer, you will not be able to access your "Journal". Make sure that you are visiting the site from the same computer that you used to create your "Journal".
