Teachers

Welcome to the Teachers Corner of Tea: A Journey! The site has been created with supplementary educational material to fit in with the stated aims of the Social Studies and Visual Arts Curriculum as contained in the Integrated Resource Packages posted by the British Columbia Ministry of Education.

Each of the curriculum sections under Teachers' Plans contains three activities for a teacher to guide students through, and they have been developed to emphasize either major themes within the discipline, or particular learning objectives. It is recommended that a task list be prepared for the activity to be undertaken as they will generally require two to three classes to complete. These plans can also be downloaded as pdf files for printing at a later date (note: requires acrobat reader, available from Adobe).

Teachers can also direct students to the Activities section for independent learning or learning with minimal supervision. Each of these activities are also linked to from the relevant sections of the site itself. The Tea in Japan word search as well as the writing of a Haiku poem are suited to self-directed learning. Tocha, a game of tea might be combined with the Society and Culture activity in the Social Studies Curriculum section in order to impart a more detailed knowledge about types of tea.

We hope that some of the activities will fit in with your particular aims and objectives in the classroom!
